Who we are!
Telling you about our history is only part of the deal. We are an inclusive church that tries to give a welcome to all that is respectful and welcoming, regardless of gender and sexuality.
We are a church founded out of the LGBT community, and as such, welcome people to come as they are - you need not be anything less or anything more than who you are, and how you are welcome to come as you wish. We wish to make it clear that members of the transgendered community are welcome.
But before we tell you about what we do, lets fill you in on how we organise ourselves. Our church bylaws, as well as the charity commission regulations, require that we have a board of directors.
For further information about our members, check out the Queer as Folk pages for links to inidiviuals pages.
The Board of Directors
MCC North London is a registered charity (Charity No.:293629) and has a Board of Directors who oversee the affairs of the Church. The board is responsible for making decisions on behalf of the church membership and representing that membership at Board meetings. They also have legal responsibilitiy for the church under Charity Commission regulations and Statutory Law.
Here are the Board Members
Chair/Interim Pastor: Rev. Sharon Ferguson - pastor@mccnorthlondon.org
Vice Chair/Lay Delegate: Mr Tim Fellows - laydelegate@mccnorthlondon.org
Secretary & Clerk: Charles Saffey: secretary@mccnorthlondon.org
Treasurer: Mr Richard Gore - treasurer@mccnorthlondon.org
Board Members:
Malcolm Goodwin
It is through these good folk that we carry out the legal business of church. The Board meets monthly - anyone can attend, but only registered church members can vote on matter (get more details from Tim Fellows.)
Diakonos
MCCNL will soon be instituting a diaconate by establishing the role of Deacon within the church. Watch this space for more information.
Our Ministries
The church is currently undergoing some reorganisation - a bit of a spring clean if you like. We have reorganised our various minitries under the groups, each with a director with responsibilities for that group.
The groups are as follows:
Communications & Social Ministries
Director - Neil Jones
"If it moves, thank it! If it stays still, dust it!" is the old addage of Youth Workers. We're not quite sure what ComSoc directors might take as their motto, but Communications and Social covers a wide remit.
Congregational Care Ministries
Director - Jak Davis-Jama
Congregational care covers a multitude of blessings! And possibly a few sins too! There is more behind the scenes, so perhaps not so obvious to the passer by.
Worship Ministries
Director - Sharon Ferguson
There is more to Worship than meets the eye. The Worship director must work with several people not only on during the service, but during the weeks prior to a meeting.
Mission Statement
Metropolitan Community Church of North London has a primary ministry in gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered communities, providing the safe environment of an accepting congregation where people can find God's salvation, personal support, spiritual growth and guidance toward health and wholeness.
Through its services of celebrative worship, supportive care groups, community outreach, justice and advocacy, and meeting human needs through social action MCC North London makes a difference in the lives of others and stands as an integral part of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered communities.
